Spin Dash Elevators

Elevators frequently occur in platform games and allow the player to travel up or down when s/he stands on them. Spin dash elevators add a unique Sonic twist to the concept by requiring the player to use Sonic’s trademark spin dash move to power the elevator. The direction of the spin dash determines if the player travels up or down.

Although the addition of the spin dash is a relatively simple modification, it creates a purpose for the ability and so allows the player to value it as a super power. It contributes to the identity of the series, as it is a mechanic that only Sonic could use.

Despite using Sonic's speed in an interesting way, Spin Dash Elevators have not appeared in modern games
